In 1993, guitarist Ippei joined, but the group went on hiatus in 1996. They relaunched in 2002 under the new name Soulcrap. Illustrator Kads MIIDA came onboard, and the band released their debut album Riddim & Blues in 2010, followed by Quite Natural in 2011 and Too Hot! Road in 2012. Their 4th album, We’re Rollin’, came out in 2015. Since then, they’ve consistently released 7-inch EPs and collaborated with brands and artists like Rude Gallery, RAW, and The Slackers, performing across Japan. During the COVID era, bassist Gane joined, and in 2024, the band embraced a deeper musical vision and rebranded as The Soulclap. Their sound is a rich blend of R&B, Soul, Blues, and Jazz, infused with Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, and Latin grooves.
